After the 1st leg of the champions league quarter-final between Manchester City and Bayern München in which City won by 3 goals to nil.
Since joining the Bavarians from Liverpool for £35 Million in the summer of 2022 he has scored 11 goals and has 5 assists for the club and came on as a substitute to help amend Manchester cities 3-0 lead.
Senegalese international Sadio Mane was involved in an altercation after the game with ex-Manchester City forward Leroy Sane. Mane punched Sane in the face because he was not happy with the way Sane spoke to him This led to sane’s lip starting to bleed, however, the two players were separated by their teammates in the away dressing room.
Following the incident Sadio Mane reported that Leroy had called him “Black Sh**” which then brought out a very strong reaction from Sadio leading him to do this to his teammate.
The two were seen arguing on the pitch towards the end of the game where Bayern lost 3-0 and arguably crashed out of the champions league.
Videos then emerged of Sane travelling through the airport on his way to Munich hiding his badly swollen lip caused by his confrontation with Sadio Mane who had joined his squad on the team bus whilst Leroy was picked up privately.
The club had a meeting on Wednesday about what they were going to do about Manes’ post-match brawl with his own teammate. To assess his position at Bayern and potential fines/suspensions.
Moving on from this incident Leroy Sane has said that he feels remorseful and regrets his comment to Sadio.
Bayern head coach Thomas Tuchel said that it will not be tolerated and made Mane apologise for his actions in front of the whole squad during Thursday’s training session back in Germany.
Later that day Bayern München released a statement on their Twitter explaining that Sadio Mane will be given a record fine and be left out of the squad for their upcoming home game against 1899 Hoffenheim because of his misconduct at the Etihad.
Sadio was given the highest fine in Bayern Munich history of £250,000 which was taken out of his £17m per year wages.
Whats next for Sadio mane at Bayern?
Despite signing a three-year contract his days playing at the alliaz arena could be over in the first year of his deal with Bayern. The club looks to part ways with the 31 year old and have said that they will try everything to sell him following the appointment of tuchel his position has looked uncertain at Bayern because from a sporting point of view there are no plans for him and he does not fit into Thomas tuchels system that he will be looking to create at Bayern to help them compete in European competitions rather than lost 3-0 away from home and compete with each other in the dressing room.
